Bio Gas Production

Bio Gas Production

Bio Gas Production

in this article, I’m going to tell you about the Bio Gas Production

What is Biogas?

  • Biogas is a clean and efficient source of renewable energy
  • Made from organic waste
  • Produces methane
  • Anaerobic digestion
  • Replaces non-renewable energy
  • Digested in an airtight container

Composition of Biogas

Type of gas% in the mixture by volume
Methane50-80
Carbon dioxide15-45
Water5
Other gases
Including hydrogen0-1
Hydrogen sulphide0-3

Why have a Biogas Digester

  • Simple, cost-effective designs
  • Highly available fuel supply
  • Better usage of manure
  • No longer polluting water
  • No longer being burnt
  • Saves money
  • Decrease greenhouse gas emissions
  • Produce organic fertilizer
  • How does it work
  • Manure mixed with water to create a slurry
  • Slurry is put into airtight digester
  • Anaerobic decomposition
  • Methane created and collected
  • Effluent produced and removed

Raw materials required

  • Forms of biomass listed below may be used along with water
  • Animal dung
  • Poultry wastes
  • Human excreta
  • Industrial wastes (sawdust, wastes from food processing industries)
  • Domestic wastes (vegetable peels, waste food materials)
Bio Gas Production

Production of Biogas – The Biogas plants

  • There are two types of biogas plants based  on construction method
  • The fixed – dome type of biogas plant (Chinese plant)
  • The floating gas holder type of biogas plant (Indian type)
  • Based n gas-emitting time, 2 types of biogas systems can be seem
  • Continuous types
  • Batch type

Fixed dome type of biogas plant (Chinese type)

Bio Gas Production

Non-movable gas holder

Construction

The biogas plant is a brick and cement structure

Mixing  tank

Present above the ground level

Inlet tank

The mixing tank opens underground into a sloping inlet chamber

Digester

The inlet chamber opens into the digester which is a huge tank with a dome like ceiling

Outlet tank

The diagester opens from below into an outlet chamber

Overflow tank

The outlet chamber opens from the top into a small over flow tank

Organic Home Garden

Important Things you should know before start Home Garden

Usually, organic farming follows below four main concepts

  1. Environmental conservation
  2. Healthiness
  3. Justice for farmers
  4. Protection of environmental social sustainability
  5. In organic farming, agriculture production is done at a sustainable level in a socially acceptable level
  6. Ecological agriculture is also an organic farming method
  7. Especially in here is no application of synthetic fertilizer or any chemical material (pheromones) for the agricultural products
  8. Since production of a home garden is mainly for household consumption, ecological agriculture used to practice in there
  9. Rehabilitation of destroyed soil is done using organic manure
  10. Weed controlling is done either manual or environmentally friendly method
  11. Controlling of diseases and pest attacks by
  • Usage of healthy, disease-free seeds
  • Crop rotation
  • Natural extracts
  • Generally, genetically modified crops are not recommended for home gardens
  • Traditional crop varieties, rare crops varieties used to grow in the home garden also as crop conservation
  • Biodynamic agriculture was the first of the organic agriculture
  • It is very similar to O.A concepts, but this includes various esoteric (mysterious) concepts and emphasise  spiritual and mystical concepts
  • Usage of astrological sowing and planting calendar
  • Harvesting cosmic forces in soil by horn buring
  • (in biodynamics, cow horns are emptied and filling quartz into it and used to bury in the soil at summer season, take it back and in the winter season, dissolve interior material with water)
  • But due to over-reliance upon esoteric knowledge and beliefs and due to lack of scientific evidence for its “efficacy”, biodynamic agriculture is not that much popular

Types of Organic Fertilizers

Solid fertilizers

  • Green manure: sesbania, sun hemp, wild sunflower, gliricidia
  • Animal waste: poultry manure, piggery manure, cattle sheep or goat dung
  • Biochar: rice husks, wood burnings, sawdust

Biochar

  • Activated carbon by pyrolysis process; partially burning woody material under O2 less atmosphere at 300°C carbon by pyrolysis
  • Increase absorbance of “5”
  • Reduce fungal attacks
  • Remove  toxic compound
